Key Stage 4 Outcomes

Summer 2026

Our most recent KS4 Outcomes came in Summer 2026. We are waiting for these to be validated by the Department for Education later in the Autumn Term. These should be taken as provisional, but can be compared to our performance (2025) for which there is comparative local authority and national averages available (see below).

Attainment

Attainment 8 is based on a calculation of pupils’ performance across 8 qualifications. Maths is double weighted (as is English when Literature is taken as well as Language). 

Whilst this measure isn't as useful or as fair as Progress (see section below), these validated Attainment measurements from Summer 2025 show that students at the school perform very well by comparison to Staffordshire and national averages:

The Department for Education places a great emphasis on students undertaking a suite of strong academic subjects which they label the E-Baccalaureate (or EBacc). The EBacc 'bucket' (Pot 2) includes the 3 highest point scores from the science subjects, computer science, history, geography, and languages.

The Open bucket (Pot 3) contains the 3 highest point scores in any 3 other subjects (from the DfE approved list) which haven't already been counted.

Progress

A key measurement for school is Progress, as this determines how far the students have improved since sitting their Year 6 SATS exams.

This judgement is fairer than straight-forward Attainment – where selective schools invariably score highest – but there are limitations with it. The measure doesn't consider local context (such as the proportion of Disadvantaged children at a school) or take into students joining the school late, having been educated elsewhere.

The Department for Education are not able to calculate Progress 8 scores for academic years 2024/25 and 2025/26. This is because there is no KS2 assessment data available to calculate the baseline for Progress 8 for these years due to Covid-19 disruption. 

The school's last available Progress 8 scores (below) give an indication of how students did in their Best 8 subjects in Summer 2024. This level of progress is excellent against national benchmarks, repeatedly tops the KS4 Performance Tables for Staffordshire, and continues the school’s trend of superb exam results stretching back before the COVID pandemic.
